Chapter 1

Episode one

Brittney

Heyyyy girl. Welcome back to Divine Downloads! This is Episode One, and today? We’re diving into Islam—beliefs and practices. Because look, I don’t know about you, but if this is on your Unit One exam and you’re not ready? Girl, it’s a problem. So let’s make it make sense, okay?

Brittney

Alright. So Islam is a monotheistic religion. Big word, but it basically means Muslims believe in one God—Allah. Not just any god... the God. Period. This belief is literally the foundation of Islam. Like, the OG starting point. Muslims believe Allah is omniscient, omnipotent, and merciful. You know, that ‘main character energy.’ And because Allah’s so central, Muslims don’t draw him—or the prophets either. It’s giving respect on another level.

Brittney

Now let’s break this down like a checklist. The Six Beliefs of Sunni Islam. Number one, Tawhid. This is the belief in the oneness of God. No trinity, no team-ups, just Allah. Simple. Number two, Angels—or Malaikah. They’re made of light, flawless, and they obey Allah 24/7. Like, the real definition of ‘always online.’ Number three is Holy Books, with the Qur’an as the main star. It’s considered the unedited, divine drop—not inspired, just straight-up the word of God.

Brittney

Fourth? Prophethood, or Nubuwwah. Muslims believe in a whole lineup of prophets, from Adam to Muhammad, but Muhammad—peace be upon him—is the final one. The ‘Seal of the Prophets.’ Number five is the Day of Judgement. Muslims believe YOLO doesn’t apply. You live, you’re judged, and then it’s Heaven or Hell. No middle ground. Last but not least—Al-Qadr, which is predestination. Basically, everything that happens has been planned by Allah. Like, your life is a known Google Calendar event to Him. It’s wild, right?

Brittney

Oh, and the prophets? Let’s talk about Muhammad—pbuh. Muslims believe he’s the last prophet and that he received the Qur’an over 23 years. Like, the longest download in history. He’s called ‘The Seal of the Prophets’ for a reason. He literally lived the Qur’an, like the blueprint for being a good human.

Brittney

Speaking of the Qur’an, Muslims believe it’s the literal word of God, revealed in Arabic—no rewrites, no edits, no SparkNotes. And girl, it’s treated with so much respect. You gotta wash before touching it, keep it clean, and definitely no dog-earing the pages. It’s that sacred.

Brittney

But let’s touch on the Five Pillars, because these are non-negotiable. Number one, Shahadah—the declaration of faith. Literally the first thing whispered to a newborn. It goes ‘There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.’ Number two is Salah, or prayer, five times a day. It’s not a quick “Hey God, what’s up.” It’s structured, like you’re clocking in with the Divine. Third is Zakah, which is giving 2.5 percent of your wealth to charity. It’s like spiritual taxes. You give back.

Brittney

Then there’s Sawm—fasting during Ramadan. No food, no drink, not even gum. It’s about self-discipline and empathy. Finally, Hajj. It’s the pilgrimage to Makkah that’s done once in a lifetime, if you can afford it. It’s like the Met Gala of faith—everyone’s in white, equal before Allah. It’s so powerful, I can’t even.

Brittney

And girl, one last thing. Jihad? It doesn’t mean war, okay. It literally means struggle. Like, struggling to be a better person—that’s ‘Greater Jihad.’ Defending the faith? That’s ‘Lesser Jihad.’ The media really flipped the narrative on that one.

Brittney

So that’s the rundown, babes. We crushed the beliefs, practices, and sprinkled in some flavour. Islam’s got depth, but girl, it’s not boring. And that’s all for today! Thanks for vibing with me on Divine Downloads. Until next time, revise, stay cute, and remember... Allah sees you, girl. Period.
